UA researchers modify the genetic code of a living being by the first time.
A team of CESAM researchers broke one of the sacred rules of biology, that the genetic code is unchangeable. These researchers found that the pathogenic fungus "Candida albicans" uses a different genetic code of other living beings and managed to understand how this fungus changed it. With the new knowledge, they have artificially altered the genetic code of the fungus "Candida albicans". The investigation has now been published in the North American "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" (PNAS).
