25/06/2015

In the air census campaign for cetaceans held between 18 and 19 June, several species were seen by researchers and PhD students of DBio. Among these species are fin whales, minke whales, sperm whales, pilot whales, Risso's dolphin, ziphius, beaked whales, striped dolphin, and common and bottlenose dolphins. The Mission took place between 50 and 200 Nautical miles along the national coast and occurred in the framework of the Cooperation Protocol established by the LIFE + MARPRO between the Portuguese Air Force, UA, and Portuguese Wildlife Society. In the whole researchers saw 698 individuals belonging to those species.
