Research work developed at Department of Biology and CESAM distinguished in international conference

Cátia Venâncio, a doctoral student in the Department of Biology, was awarded with the prize for best poster at the 10th Iberian and 7th Iberoamerican Conference on Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, held in Vila Real from 14 to 17 July, with a work that intended to evaluate the effects of increased salinity due to sea water intrusion, on the growth of four species of fungi, over several generations: Pleurotus sajor cashew, Phanaerochaete chrysosporium, Rhizopus oryzae, and Trametes versicolor.

This work was developed under the project SALTFREE - Prediction of salinization effects on coastal freshwater and soil ecosystems due to climate changes.
