Best poster award in international meeting for CESAM researchers

The study "Risk assessment of Portuguese children dietary exposure to co-occurring mycotoxins in processed cereal-based foods", developed under the MYCOMIX project, was awarded the best poster by Moniqa Association. The Moniqa Association is an interdisciplinary international network which includes members from various areas of food safety, inter alia, laboratories, public institutes, industry, research centers and universities.
This award was under the 5th Moniqa International Conference "Food and Health - Risks and Benefits" on "Innovative Technologies for Food Quality and Safety Management", organized by Moniqa Association and held between 16 and 18 September in Porto. These results were recently submitted for publication in international scientific journal and the poster was presented by Ricardo Assunção, PhD student of the Department of Food and Nutrition at the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge & CESAM.
The collaboration between CESAM researchers belonging to the Biology Department and the National Health Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge, under the MYCOMIX project, relates to the preliminary assessment of the risk associated with the presence of food contaminants (single mycotoxins or in mixtures) in milk flour cereal consumed by children.
