Research team from dbio-CESAM at UA in the EU HORIZON 2020 project NanoFASE

NanoFASE- Nanomaterial Fate and Speciation in the Environment is a new EU HORIZON 2020 project coordinated by Dr. Claus Svendsen (NERC-CEH) that started on the 1st of September 2015. NanoFASE has marked the start of a 4-year collaboration in Oct. 2015, with a kick-off meeting, gathering representatives from many of our 42 partners. Over the course of 3 days, NanoFASE scientists from many disciplines got to know each other. The consortium mapped out how the highly diverse contributions will smoothly integrate in order to elucidate the environmental fate and speciation of engineered nanomaterials across the full value chain.
From UA, the research team coordinated by Susana Loureiro, researcher at CESAM-dbio, will be in charge of the bioaccumulation and kinetics in key soil and aquatic organism, with a straight collaboration with the Vriej Universiteit in Amsterdam (Prof. Kees van Gestel). At the applEE- applied Ecology and Ecotoxicology R&D group, aquatic and terrestrial mesocosms will be carried out to evaluate the biotic and abiotic fate of nanomaterials within food chains
