" Deriva Litoral - the impact of coastal erosion in Portugal", a documentary co-produced and conducted by Fábrica Centro Ciência Viva and UA, will be presented in world premiere at the Film International Festival of Avanca, between July 27 and July 31. The premiere of this documentary is scheduled for July 30, at 17:00, in the Auditório Paroquial de Avanca.
This documentary is based on interviews with researchers from the University of Aveiro, and brings together a wide range of real images, places and facts accompanied by scientific explanations. This is an analysis of the agents that are at the root of the problem and an exercise of reflection on future solutions. The film had the participation of Environment and Planning Department, Civil Engineering Department, Physics Department, Geosciences Department, University of Aveiro and CESAM.
This production started from the winter 2013-2014, when the Portuguese coast was battered by heavy storms and prolonged sea waves. Coastal areas were reported for the worst reasons and, in recent years, there has been in Portugal a progressive advance of the sea, exposing the safety of people and properties - the Portuguese beaches are losing sand! For several factors. The information available did not seem to be enough for the understanding of all these phenomena. Make it better and accessible to all of us becomes essential now that scientific community debate the erosion problems and their causes.
