  • PhD Programme in Biotechnology

    The PhD Programme in Biotechnology aims to training professionals specialized in the design, research and development in 3 key areas of Biotechnology: Medical, Marine and Industrial. The branch of Medical Biotechnology aims to promote the development of skills in the design of materials with application in cell therapy, tissue engineering and controlled release of drugs, development and study of the potential of biomaterials, biomimetic, development of technologies of diagnosis and therapeutics. The branch of Marine Biotechnology aims to promote the development of skills in the production of marine biomass focusing in the clonal propagation ex situ, use of the omics in the discovery of chemical biodiversity of marine organisms and in their smart valorization as nutraceuticals, cosmetics and pharmacological, thus contributing to the development of the blue economy. The branch of industrial Biotechnology aims to contribute to the development of scientific skills and techniques that allow the resolution of problems within a business context in the scope of a socio-economical frame, and the creation and implementation of new solutions aiming the innovation of process or product, and entrepreneurship.   • Joint Erasmus Mundus PhD in Marine and Coastal Management (MACOMA)
