Impacts of fires in the carbon cycle will be studied at CESAM

UA project aims to quantify indirect effects of fires in pine forests.
Is the carbon dioxide fixed by plants via photosynthesis following a fire in a pine forest still more significant than the carbon that is lost, for example, via wood degradation or erosion of the most superficial layers of the soil? The FIRE-C-BUDs project "Indirect effects of forest fires on fluxes and carbon balance", coordinated by Jan Jacob Keizer, aims to find an answer to this question and to quantify other indirect effects of fires in a pine forest.
