PhD student awarded in Luxembourg

Tamiris Costa, PhD student at DAO and CESAM, was awarded with the "From PhD to apps" prize at the 2017 Life Cycle Management conference held in Luxembourg from 3 to 6 September. The distinction recognizes the high potential that the work presented "Environmental impacts of biomass-to-energy conversion technologies: grate boilers and fluidized bed boilers" offers in support of decision-making.

The paper addresses the environmental impacts of biomass energy conversion technologies: grids and fluidized beds. The use of forest biomass has great potential to contribute significantly to the production of electricity in Portugal and with substantially lower environmental impacts than current technologies.
