The "Emergency Stabilization" of the areas destroyed by fire will start and the plan will be managed by the municipalities according to methods defined by four universities. In this group is an UA team, coordinated by Jacob Keizer, researcher from DAO and CESAM, which proposes that the most affected soils should be covered by caruma or crushed forest residues, preventing soil erosion.
On 22 September, at the demonstration session organized by the ICNF, Jacob Keizer presented some of the criteria needed to choose the areas where emergency stabilization measures should be applied, as well as the monitoring plots managed by UA to evaluate the effectiveness of two emergency stabilization measures for the slopes.
