CESAM participates in the Final Conference of the project RECARE

On the 27th September, in Brussels, will occur the final conference RECARE organized by the consortium of the project. This event targets decision makers to present the main results of the project on:

  • effective measures for the prevention and remediation of soil threats and its adoption by land managers;
  • European politic's impacts; and
  • options for future answears in policies.

This conference will be an excellent opportunity to discuss how RECARE results may inffluence the future European policies for soil protection. CESAM team coordinated by Jan Jacob Keizer was invited to present a Portuguese case study, in which solutions to mitigate the hidric erosion of the soil in burned areas were studied. The application of grounded forestry debris resulting from the the cut of eucaliptus trees (i.e. mulching) was the selected technique used by the agents as innovative measure to be tested in the scope of RECARE.
