High Performance Computational System (ARGUS), a platform capable to fulfill the research work demands, namely on:

- Estuarine and Coastal modelling
- Air quality modelling
- Bioinformatics
The cluster is an initiative of several departments and Research Units at University of Aveiro, namely:
- Department of Environment and Planning
- Department of Physic
- Department of Chemistry
- CESAM
- CICECO
- I3N
Hardware
- 1 front-end with two 10-core Intel ® Xeon ® E5-2670 @ 2.50 GHz processors and 62 GB RAM
- 25 compute nodes each one consisting of two 12-core Intel ® Xeon ® E5-2690 v3 @ 2.60 GHz processors and 125 GB RAM
- 15 compute nodes each one consisting of two 14-core Intel ® Xeon ® E5-2690 v4 @ 2.60 GHz processors and 125 GB RAM

Grand total of 1020 cores spread along 40 nodes and ~5115 GB RAM
- 1 High-performance, low-latency, temporary storage server with SSD disks (4.2 TB)
- 1 persistent storage system (140 TB)
- High throughput, low-latency network connection (InfiniBand) between all servers
- 10 Gbps connection to the ‘outside world’
