CESAM researcher leads CYTEC network

The CESAM researcher Rosa Freitas leads on of the approved CYTED networks for 2019. Only 21 networks were approved and of those only two are coordinated by Portuguese researchers. This network is included in the area of Sustainable Development and is related with the Evaluation of emergent contaminants in aquatic organisms. The network includes more that 40 members that come from several countries including Spain (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas, Barcelona; Instituto Espanol de Oceanografia - Centro Oceanográfico de Baleares), Mexico (Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Nordeste, S.C; Centro de Investigación Biomédica de Occident - Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social; Universidad Autónoma de San Luis), USA (University of California, Berkeley), Chile (Instituto Antártico Chileno), Brasil (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande) and Argentina (Centro para el Estudio de Sistemas Marinos - Centro Nacional Patagónico - Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas).
CYTED networks are clusters of research and development (R&D) formed by public or private entities and corporations from the member countries of the CYTED Programme, whose scientific or technological activities are related within a common area of interest and included in one of the Programme Areas. Their main objective is the exchange of knowledge between R&D groups and the strengthening of cooperation as a work method. The financing of the CYTED Programme’s purpose is the coordination activities of the thematic networks, which have a maximum limit of 30.000 euros per year. Financing includes the mobility of the member groups, the organization of workshops and courses and the issue of publications.
CYTED - Programa Iberoamericano de Ciência e Tecnologia para o Desenvolvimento main objective is to contribute to the harmonious development of the Ibero-American region through cooperation mechanisms that seek scientific and technological results, transferable to production systems and social policies.
