Oporto needs more green areas to fight against heat waves

CESAM research concluded that Oporto needs to take urgent measures to fight heat waves that are becoming more frequent, stronger and harmful for the environment and human health. Some of the proposed solutions are have new green areas, expand the gardens and parks already existent and use the vegetation and plants on the roofs of the buildings. Also, use lighter colours on the roofs and urban pavements will help in refreshing the city. More information on this study of David Carvalho and Carlos Borrego may be obtained here.
