Smoke from forest fires can severely affect the health of firemen

Research from CESAM members (Ana Isabel Miranda, Joana Valente e Sandra Sorte) studied, for the first time, the vital signs of firemen in experimental scenarios of forest fires. The results indicate that the regular and extended exposure to high levels of pollutants during the fire fight can cause acute and long term health problems.
