11 Dec 2020, 14h30-16h00 [The next content is only available in PT] O projeto"Rede de Arrojamentos do Norte de Portugal: mamíferos e tartarugas marinhas - 2020" permite dar resposta a arrojamentos de animais marinhos (cetáceos, focas e tartarugas) desde Caminha a Peniche e contribui para o aumento do conhecimento científico sobre o estado de conservação do meio marinho. Neste evento, serão abordados o funcionamento da rede de arrojamentos em Portugal e os resultados obtidos durante 2020 para a área do projecto. O webinar será em português e limitado a 100 participantes. A inscrição neste evento é obrigatória e pode ser feita AQUI até ao dia 10 de dezembro.

[Content only available in Portuguese] No âmbito da Linha Temática “Ambiente & Saúde”, o CESAM organizou um workshop para comemorar a iniciativa “One Health Day”. O Workshop vai realizar-se no dia 11 de novembro à tarde e englobará duas sessões temáticas e uma sessão de posters. O programa do workshop encontra-se aqui. O One Health Day é uma iniciativa com caracter internacional coordenada por redes de investigação, como a One Health Comission e a One Health Platform Foundation, que escolheram o dia 3 de novembro como o Dia da Saúde Única. O conceito One Health remete à interdependência entre a saúde humana, dos animais e do ambiente. O Workshop contou com cerca de 200 inscritos e foi um fórum de debate interdisciplinar na solução de desafios globais que envolvem a saúde humana, animal e ambiental. Pretende-se que este evento permita à academia e ao público em geral discutir um problema atual, as doenças infeciosas emergentes, abordando os microrganismos envolvidos - vírus, bactérias, fungos e parasitas - mas também os fatores envolvidos na incidência destas doenças, nomeadamente, atividades humanas que direta ou indiretamente atingem o ambiente, as alterações climáticas e o uso indiscriminado de antibióticos. The research team of the project NanoReproTox (PTDC/CTA-AMB/30908/2017) welcomes the scientific community and the general public to attend the webinar: ‘Tools for assessing the impacts of contamination in the reproduction of marine organisms’ to be held on the 14th October, 14h (UTC). In this webinar, we will present how commonly used methodologies can be applied to evaluate the impacts of contamination on the reproduction of marine organisms (e.g. CASA, cytometry, comet assay and histology). A link between the research updates on human male reproduction and environmental risk assessment will be also provided. The speakers belong to an interdisciplinary team from CESAM, Ibimed, CCMAR and MARE-Nova.id.UNL. The webinar is free, but registration is mandatory (ana.carvalhais@ua.pt). [Content only available in Portuguese] Decorrerá já no próximo dia 25 de setembro, o 1.º Simpósio Nacional sobre “Exposição precoce a contaminantes e seu impacto na saúde humana”, realizado no âmbito do projeto earlyMyco “Early-life exposure to mycotoxins and its impact on health”, financiado pela FCT. Este simpósio é organizado pelo Departamento de Alimentação e Nutrição (DAN) do Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA), em colaboração com os seus parceiros do projeto, Fundação Champalimaud, Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública, Universidade de Évora e Administração Regional de Saúde de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo. A iniciativa decorrerá no INSA e contará ainda com a possibilidade de participação on-line. O evento tem como objetivo promover o diálogo e interação entre participantes que desenvolvam estudos sobre a exposição precoce a contaminantes através da alimentação ou ambiente, contribuindo assim para conhecer melhor a realidade nacional neste domínio. The Wildlife Seminars are an initiative of the Wildlife Research Unit (DBio & CESAM, University of Aveiro) that aims to share knowledge and experiences, within the scope of the study of wildlife, in different dimensions and contexts. The initiative is aimed at the academic community but also at all people who are interested in the study, management and conservation of wildlife. In the first edition, in June 2020, we had an average participation of 20 to 25 people. These seminars will have an edition in each month with seminars every weeks.

The PERICLES project is organizing a series of webinars, and the first communication is already on May 27th at 12:00 PM: “PERICLES - understanding the coastal and maritime cultural heritage, its meanings, risks and potential” and will be given by the project coordinator, Dr. Kristen Ounanian of the Centre for Blue Governance of Aalborg University. This webinar aims to present an overview of the project, as well as some of the results obtained over the last two years, highlighting the regional case studies, the participatory approach of the project and the portal used for heritage mapping and promotion of citizen science. It will last one hour and will be in English. The event is free of charge, but requires prior registration. By registering you are giving us your consent to contact you if there is a change in the schedule. Your data will not be used for any other purpose. We would like to monitor the country of origin of participants, but this information will not be associated with any participant. After the webinar you will be invited to fill out a feedback form. All webinars will be recorded and made available on the PERICLES project website: https://www.pericles-heritage.eu/webinars/. The second webinar will take place on June 24th and is entitled: 'ICOMOS France: a definition and five principles for the enhancement of heritage areas'. CESAM organized a webinar on Online Science Communication: How to present my project/my thesis, that took place on 22 June, 3 PM (ZOOM platform), as a result of a consortium with CIDTFF, CICECO e ccTIC-UA. The target audience were PhD students that are going to present their project or thesis online. Nevertheless, other interested people attended, once it had an important part of general aspects regarding online communication. The speakers of this event are experts in different areas of online communication: researcher Miguel Leal (CESAM), Professor Maria José Loureiro (ccTIC-UA), researcher Cecília Guerra (CIDTFF) and researcher Nuno Silva (CICECO) The webinar was moderated by the Scientific Coordinator of CESAM, Ana Lillebø. The webinar included a synchronous session with a video with presentations by the speakers followed by a moment of Questions & Answers. 122 participants attended this event belonging to the three research units of the consortium and also from other universities. Participants were distributed all over the world. The video with the presentations of the speakers can be seen here (2GB) (in Portuguese). Soon, an English version will also be available.

Vera Rodrigues (CESAM/DAO) takes part in webinar 2. Vera Rodigues is dedicated to the modelling of atmospheric processes in urban areas, namely the study of the interactions between the urban microclimate and the dispersion of atmospheric pollutants and in mitigation measures capable of reducing the population's exposure levels to atmospheric pollution.

The 12th Ibero-American Congress on Sensors, IBERSENSOR2021, originally planned for September 2020 in Aveiro, Portugal, has been postponed to September 2021. We would like to invite you to join us at the 12th Ibero-American Congress on Sensors (IBERSENSOR2020) in Aveiro, Portugal, from 7th to 10th of September 2020. This conference series have already been successfully held on eleven occasions in La Habana, Cuba (1998), Buenos Aires, Argentina (2000), Lima, Perú (2002), Puebla, México (2004), Montevideo, Uruguay (2006), Sao Paulo, Brasil (2008), Lisboa, Portugal (2010), San Jose, Puerto Rico (2012), Bogotá, Colombia (2014), Valparaiso, Chile (2016) and Barcelona, Spain (2018). IBERSENSOR is a forum of the Spanish and Portuguese speaking scientific community, working in the field of development and application of sensors. This congress promotes the interaction among research groups, contributing to enhance the scientific level of our countries in the field of sensors, an activity in rapid development with enormous interest and social impact worldwide. The official languages of the Congress are Portuguese, Spanish and English. IBERSENSOR covers a diversity of interdisciplinary areas under the umbrella of sensors, ranging from physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, nanoscience, and materials engineering to biosciences. The project GENESIS - Green roofs and walls ENvironmental Economic and SocIal Savings: Modelling uncertainty and investors / users preferences in all-inclusive cost-benefit analysis of green roofs and walls, which has CESAM members on its team, is organizing the URBAN GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE to be held in Lisbon, 2-3 April 2020. Besides having the presence of CESAM members in the organizing committee, Professor Ana Isabel Miranda and researcher Vera Rodrigues are in the scientific committee. UGIIC 2020 is an interdisciplinary conference on green infrastructures (GI) and nature-based solutions (NBS) for cities. The aim of this event is to share and discuss the most recent work on green walls and green roofs, bringing together researchers, architects, engineers, urban planners, landscape architects and policy-makers from different nationalities.
