Research interests

•Application of traditional (physiological, biochemical, cytological and histological) methodologies to evaluate the toxic impacts derived from climate change and higher availability of classic to emergent contaminants.
•Ecotoxicity of metal(loid)s, pharmaceutical drugs, nanoparticles in aquatic systems
•Interactions and effects of different climate change scenarios with pollutants
•The impacts of climate change on bivalves infection

  • Collaboration and traineeship with Yellow Sea Fisheries Research institute (Qingdao, China) in the ecotoxicology and biomarkers laboratory of Professor Zengjie Jiang and Postdoc Weiwei Jiang with the aim of analyzing the physiogical, histopathological and biochemical responses of the Ruditapes philippinarum (clams) after prolonged exposure at remediated seawater before contaminated with Hg and than descontaminated by nanostructured materials (NSMs) GO-PEI (graphene oxide polyethylene) under different temeprature. 


 


2018-2019 



  • Collaboration and traineeship with CIBM (Centro Interuniversitario di Biologia Marina ed Ecologia Applicata “G. Bacci”) (Livorno, Italy) and at the University of Veterinary, Pisa (Italy) in the ecotoxicology and biomarkers laboratory of Professor Carlo Pretti with the aim of analyzing the physiogical and biochemical responses of the Mytilus galloprovincialis (mussel) after prolonged exposure at CNTs (carbon nanotube) and Triclosan drug under different salinities. 

  • Collaboration with the Department of Biology at the University of study of Naples Federico II (Italy) in the  laboratory of Professor Gianluca Polese in order to analyse and quantify the damage by Histopathological view in contaminated bivalves. 


 


2017-2018



  • Collaboration and traineeship with Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in the Renewable Marine Resources Department Barcelona (Spain) in the ecotoxicology and biomarkers laboratory of Research Solé Rovira Montserrat with the aim of analyzing the  biochemical responses of the Mytilus galloprovincialis (mussel)  after prolonged exposure at different temperatures and salinity under Diclofenac and Triclosan drugs. 


2016-2017



  • Collaboration with the Department of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) in the Environmental Processes and Pollutants laboratory of Professor Eduarda Pereira and Post-Doc Bruno Henriques in order to analyze and quantify the mercury (Hg) and arsenic (As) in the seawater and Mytilus galloprovincialis (mussel)  contaminated.

  • Assitent of the bachelor biology students group in the ecotoxicology and environmental sustainability laboratory of Prof. Etelvina Figueira and Post-Doc Rosa Freitas at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) with the aim of analyzing the physiological and biochemical responses of the Mytilus galloprovincialis (mussel)  after prolonged exposure at different temperatures under mercury (Hg) and arsenic (As) concentrations 


2015-2016



  • Internship at the University of Naples Federico II in the zoology laboratory of the Professor Gianluca Polese in order to study the effects of secondary metabolites of Marine Invasive Species on bream. During the internship I used a combination of techniques and protocols ranging from histological to molecular biology
