The FRAMEFFECTIVE project aims at contributing to fill these gaps, by evaluating the ecological relevance of a battery of cost-effective bioassays selected in accordance with the five classes of environmental quality established with a predictive model (based on macroinvertebrate and diatom assemblages) developed in compliance with the WFD for Central Portugal, and determining their input to assess and monitor water bodies, as bioassays may offer a major contribution to rapidly and holistically assess water quality.
