Scientific activities

Management of Research projects, research and educative activities, directing, organizing and mange projects and field activities. Also, has provided project advisory and project management services to public and private sector. Has been involved in a R & D Innovation transfer perspective and this expertise enabled the qualification to provide R & D services to small and medium enterprises. Partner / consultant of various companies. International collaborations: Promotion of International Consortia and scientific and educational agreements with national and foreign institutions (Europe, Latin America and Africa). Participation in Teacher and Student Exchange Programs with National and International Universities and Research Institutes (Europe, Latin America and Africa). Also involved in technology Transfer (UTT) for the development of innovative technologies and innovation services for enterprises in areas such as marine pollution, marine technologies and biotechnology, Risk Assessment, and wild populations management. Educational activities: He has taught theoretical, theoretical-practical courses and research disciplines and theoretical and practical seminars (scientific and educational) within the curricula in Biology, Biochemistry, and Environmental Engineering to Postgraduate and graduate levels of the University of Aveiro and foreign universities (Brazil, Mozambique, Mexico). Also, Environmental and Capacity building formation. Science dissemination activities with secondary education schools. Organization of field activities and seminar cycles. Supervisor of 4 post doc researchers, 8 PhD, 38 MSc and 49 graduation students. Member of more than 100 exam panels for viva voice examinations (for PhD and MSc) and career assessment. Workshops and scientific meetings organization. Member of the organizing and scientific committees of more than 100 international and national congresses and workshops. Participated in several projects research and development projects.

Has written, co-written, edited or co-edited more then 200 publications, including books book chapters Special Issues of Scientific Journals and papers in refereed journals (> 80 ISI and peer reviewed).20 books; 50 book chapters; 80 articles published / in publication in ISI indexed journals; 38 articles published in national and international journals with arbitration; 32 didactic monographs; Author / co-author of more than 250 oral / panel papers at national and international congresses and workshops, with published abstracts.
