Academic year 2007/2008 - Internship at IMAR - Institute of Marine Research - Department of Life Sciences, University of Coimbra, participating in the following scientific projects: "Population effects of sequential pulses of contamination, resistance to zinc and physiological recovery in Daphnia" and "Heredity of the resistance to lethal concentrations of copper to Daphnia".


March till May 2008 - Internship at the Faculty of Technology - UNICAMP, Limeira, São Paulo, Brasil, with the scientific project: "Evaluation of environmental quality: ecotoxicological tests and environmental monitoring of water resources of the Brazilian Nuclear Industry in Poços de Caldas - Minas Gerais, Brazil."

Research field

Aquatic Ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment; use of ecotoxicological bioassays to assess potential levels of contamination in the aquatic environment.

 

Nanoparticles: caracterization and ecotoxicity in the aquatic environment.

Physa acuta, Daphnia magna, Danio rerio, Raphidocelis subcapitata - species that I currently focus most of my work on to develop ecotoxicological bioassays.

 

Lymnaea stagnalis, Daphnia longispina, Ceriodaphnia dubia, Vibrio fischeri, Brachionus plicatilis, Brachionus calyciflorus, Heterocypris incongruens and Cerastoderma edule - species with which I have also worked with.
