  • Research Focus: evaluation of growth rates of Corallina elongata (Rhodophyta) in vitro and in situ using Alizarin Red and Calcofluor White as a markers for measuring the growth rate and mineralogy of articulated coralline algae.

  • Research Focus: involvement with  PhD MARES student to design and build an experimental Ocean Acidification 1800 L aquaria system to carry out manipulation experiments on calcifing polychaetes (Spirorbidae) pre-adapted to natural CO2 vent systems in the Mediterranean Sea.

  • Research Focus: estimation the effect of the temperature variation (T=natural condition; T+3°C=elevate temperature) on growth rate, calcification, calcite density, morphology and mol % Mg/Ca (mMg/Ca) in articulated coralline alga C. elongata in the field and laboratory conditions.

  • Research Focus: examining the Constraints to Adaptive Evolution in Response to Ocean Acidification using Pre-acclimated Populations Calcifying Polycheates.

  • Research Focus: evaluation the developement of Calcifying Polycheates in response to OA stress.

  • Experience in practical and laboratory activities: acquisition of methods in the field (visual census technique) to identify benthos community; taxonomic studies of Corallinaceae algae using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM); acquisition of methodologies to calculate calcium carbonate production and growth rate of bioconstructor organisms, acquisition of methodologies to mark coralline algae using Alizarin red and Calcolfluor White markers.
