Building the future by doing more together

Marine Geology & Geophysics Laboratory (LMGG)

LMGG research focuses on coastal and deep-sea geological structures and processes, mineral and energy resources, marine geological hazards and seismic oceanography. Major research topics include: the lithospheric structure, rifting processes and evolution of continental margins; mud volcanism and hydrocarbon-rich fluid seepage; marine mineral resources; conventional and non-conventional hydrocarbons, in particular shallow gas and gas hydrates; sedimentary processes, coastal erosion and shoreline retreat; deep sea active geological structures with potential high seismic risk; seismic oceanography.
