Building the future by doing more together

Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture Laboratory (IMTAL)

IMTAL is dedicated to the development and validation of nature-based solutions that may foster a sustainable aquaculture and contribute to a greener blue revolution. The integrated culture of vertebrates, invertebrates and macrophytes is pursued to validate nature-based solutions that maximize biomass production through the retention of organic and inorganic nutrient inputs to the productive environment (in the form of pelleted diets and excretion products). The development of land-based recirculated and zero water exchange systems is a research priority of IMTAL.
