Download fileThe COOPERMINHO project, which includes Professor Ulisses M Azeiteiro and Professor Mário Pereira, led by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira, through the ‘Rio Minho Aquamuseu’, actively involving the University of Aveiro and the University of Porto, take part in the edition of contents of this book, many of them, recipe texts with historical and ethnographic background by João Guterres, gathering scientific data about the mentioned species. “In the Cooperminho project, which seeks to enhance the fish resources of the Minho River and the associated socio-cultural heritage, as well as promoting the sustainability of the exploited resources, we could not fail to support the coming into public view of this work,” explains Professor Ulisses M Azeiteiro. The greatest attention of the work goes to the migrating species of the Minho river, namely lamprey, shad and eel, as well as their ethnobiology, traditions and gastronomy, all involved in a historical context.
