Research interests

1) Environmental Microbiology; Microbial Ecology; Molecular Biology
2) Investigation of marine microbial symbionts to search for novel compounds including biocatalysts and antibiotics.
3) Bacterial biodegradation of pollutants and microbe enhanced phytorremediation.
4) Bioinformatics and metagenomic based analysis

- July 2018 – Participation in Metagenomics Bioinformatics 2018 course conducted by the European Bioinformatics Institute EMBL-EBI; Cambridge, UK.
- November/December 2015 – Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM), in the frame of e-COST Action FLOWS (ES1301), under the supervision of Dr. Mark Lever, ETH Zurich, to learn innovative techniques in molecular biology (sequencing) and to produce new datasets from the deep-sea sediment samples that were brought from Expedition 351 of the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP).
- Setember/October 2010 – Short-term stay in Julius Kühn-Institut, Braunschweig, Germany, to learn techniques relating to the detection and characterization of plasmids from endophytic bacteria capable of hydrocarbon degradation, under the supervision of Dr Kornelia Smalla
