Short CV

Felisa Rey was born in O Grove (Spain). She holds a degree in Marine Sciences (University of Vigo, Spain) and MSc in Marine Resources (University of Porto, Portugal & University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain). In 2016, she received her PhD degree in Marine Sciences and the Environment from University of Aveiro wiht the thesis: Maternal effects and settlement performance of the green crab Carcinus maenas. During her PhD, Felisa acquired expertise in analysis of marine samples using physiological, biochemical, mass spectrometry and lipidomic approaches. In 2017, she was awarded with a Post-Doctoral fellowship from Fundação Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT, Portugal), to unravel the mechanisms that allow photosynthetic sea slugs to sequester and retain functional chloroplasts inside their cells, using lipidomic mass spectrometry-based analyses. In 2019, after a very competitive international competition, she was awarded with a researcher position in the research unit CESAM (Centro de Estudos do Ambiente e do Mar, University of Aveiro) funded by FCT (Portugal). She integrates the scientific committees of four projects related with marine sciences: HULK - Functional Chloroplasts inside Animal cells; Omics4Algae - Lipidomic tools for chemical phenotyping, traceability and valorisation of seaweeds from aquaculture as a sustainable source of high added-value compounds; TraSeafood - Tracing the Geographic Origin of Seafood as a Pathway Towards the Smart Valorization of Endogenous Marine Resources and GENIALG - GENetic diversity exploitation for Innovative Macro-ALGal biorefinery.
She is guest editor of a special issue of Antibiotics "Antimicrobial Lipids from Plants and Marine Organisms" (ISSN 2079-6382), editorial board member of Scientific Reports and reviewer in international journals as Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Marine Science, ICES Journal of Marine Science, Journal of Phycology, Marine Ecology, Estuarine and Coasts, Aquatic Invasions or Journal of Shellfish Research.
Felisa was monitor and member of the organizing and scientific committees in the 2nd and 3rd edition of Practical Courses on Mass Spectrometry: Advanced Course on Lipidomics (University of Aveiro, 2018 and 2019) and was member of the organizing and scientific committees of several scientific meetings (e.g. Workshop of Lipidomics, Workshop in Imnulogy).
During her professional career she have collaborated in several educational projects in public and private institutions such as Aquarium, town councils and environmental consulting companies. Her current research interests include solar-powered animals, mixotrophy, macroalgae and ecology of marine invertebrates.
