Project Description

As several other human activities, aquaculture produces solid wastes and effluents that need to be treated, in order to prevent any negative influence over the environment. The present project aims to develop, in an intensive recirculated farm producing sole and turbot, a system to treat solid and liquid effluents through the culture of halofites, macro and microalgae, and polychaetes; the secondary aim of the project is to commercialize this species and use produced polychates to feed cultured sole. We aim to test under a real case scenario the ecological and financial feasibility of our innovative approach to treat fish farm effluents.
