Introduction

Mario Martín has a Ph.D. in Industrial Technologies: chemistry, environmental, energy, electronics, mechanics, and materials from Rey Juan Carlos Univeristy. He defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled "Development and application of advanced methods for sustainability assessment of energy systems" in November 2017. He finished his MSc in Renewable Energies, Fuel Cells and Hydrogen from CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) in collaboration with UIMP (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo), in 2014. In addition, he has a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from Rey Juan Carlos University. He obtained his degree in 2013 after presenting his B.Sc. thesis about “Life cycle assessment of geothermal systems”, which was carried out in the System Analysis Unit at IMDEA Energy. He joined System Analysis Unit of IMDEA Energy in September 2013 as a Predoctoral Researcher. His main research is the development and application of advanced methodologies for the evaluation of the three dimensions of sustainability (environmental, economic and social) of energy systems. At present, he works as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Environment and Planning (University of Aveiro). To date, he has participated in 12 research projects and contracts at both national and international levels. In addition, he has published 10 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and 21 contributions to national and international conferences.
